Standing Ovations & Spreadsheets – Celebrating World Theatre Day

'Celebrating World Theatre Day' overlayed on a theatre waiting for a performance.

It’s World Theatre Day, and whilst I am usually elbows-deep in tax returns and spreadsheets, my heart still beats in 4/4 time.

As you may recall, before I transformed into my current role as “The Singing Accountant”, I was a performer. Opera no less darling.

Which is why today’s not just a date on the calendar – it’s a reminder of the creativity, community, and chaos that make theatre so special.

So here’s a bow (or a curtsey) to everyone who:

  • Waits for “five minutes to beginners” with a racing heart
  • Teaches the dance number just one more time
  • Wears many hats – onstage and off
  • Tours, deps, subs, swings, and stands by

My work might now involve balancing books instead of blocking, but I still see what performers do – up close, and with admiration.

Whether you’re in the pit, the wings, or the spotlight, I’m cheering you on (and yes, filing your tax return correctly).

To all my clients in theatre and beyond – Happy World Theatre Day.
Keep performing. I’ll handle the HMRC drama.
