Out of Office

A few answers for you ahead of tax-return deadline:

To help move things along from your email, please consider the following for your possible question:

Have you done my tax return yet/is it ready?

I am down to the final 15 or so, so if you have sent me the checklist as requested, you will be in the queue. If you did not complete the checklist, then you may not be in the queue as that is the trigger to get you in the queue. The checklist is here >> https://form.jotform.com/250923677086971.

I send amendments, but I have not had anything back.

Amendments take time, so the weekend is allocated to them. Sadly sometimes people send me amended spreadsheets and I have to re-do all the work as there is nothing to show what has changed. If you do have changes, please make it easy for us

I have to make payment but nothing is showing on my account.

The submission receipt I send says it takes 72 hours to update the system to get to your view. You can still pay, but you have to tell HMRC how much you are going to pay rather than them telling you what to pay.

How do I pay HMRC?
Along with the submission receipt, I sent a link on how to pay. >>> www.gov.uk/pay-self-assessment-tax-bill/overview

How can I get a refund

Here is a video on how to do it . . . . https://youtu.be/SBY2WjnVIxY

Here is my data Louise – I am still on time.

Well you may be on time for HMRC, but I request everything by the 31st August with wiggleroom to 30th September. From the 21st January, the surcharge applied is 100% and we cross fingers I can get it done for you.

I want to become a client, but I still have my tax return to do for 2024/2025

Thank you for thinking of us, but It is too late for HMRC to get you on board the normal way ad you would need to have access to your online HMRC accounts/government gateway to assign us as tax agents. That takes 2 days to work through the system. I would suggest doing your own return in January, paying the bill and then we can re-do it in February or march. I have a document that tells you how to assign us as your tax agent.

I want to become a client for 2025/2026

Woo hoo – that’s great but can you please re-contact me towards the end of Feb after I have had a wee sleep.

I need to prepare for MTD. What do I need to do?

Part of my FAQ/Knowledge base hub has useful stuff about MTD including an initial software review.  https://www.performanceaccountancy.co.uk/knowledgebase/
I will be attending about 15+ demos of systems that would suit my client base, but I will never us quickbook. Sorry.

Mortgage references, visa references

If it is really urgent let me know but they will go into the Weekend/End of January work load.
