FREE MTD for Income Tax Guide for Performers & Musicians
Consider this an early backstage call from HMRC.
A big change called “Making Tax Digital for Income Tax” is on the way and it WILL start affecting SOME self-employed people from April 2026.
In simple terms, HMRC is moving away from the familiar once-a-year Self Assessment system and towards digital record keeping with quarterly reporting.
The first group affected will be people with combined self-employed income and landlord income of over £50,000 (before expenses), based on the 2024/25 tax return.
Those with income above £30,000 will follow a year later in April 2027.
Because I know this raises quite a few questions, I’ve put together a clear guide explaining what’s happening, who it affects and what you should do next.
